3. ‘Amal vs Hadith in Islamic Law
Two lectures by Shaykh Abdalhaqq Bewley FFAS in commentary on a paper by Dr. Yasin Dutton FFAS.
Part 1
"Many Western scholars have concluded that the concept of the Sunnah of The Prophet, salla'llahu alaihi wa sallam, is a secondary development that is not reflected in the earliest stages of Islamic law. There has been a movement among the orientalist scholars to discredit the Sharia by means of this. They have taken a half truth and made it into a deception in order to undermine the whole idea of the Deen and the Sharia".

Part 2
"For the average Muslim today, Sunnah is effectively what is recorded in the books of Hadith that are assumed to contain all the reported sayings, acts and tacit approvals of the Prophet, Salalau Alaihi Wasselem.. the point is, many of the tacit approvals were not recorded.. there was no reason to record them, he, Salalau Alaihi Wasselem, allowed them to happen and no one said anything about them."
